Yuval Wolfson was born in Israel in 1990 and showed an early interest in music. He began his musical education at a young age, and thanks to his talent and determination, he secured his first orchestral position at the age of 16 as bass trombonist of the Israeli Opera Orchestra. He held this position for several years, gaining valuable orchestral experience and shaping his artistic sensitivity.
His musical development led to a significant achievement in 2014 when he won first prize at the prestigious Aviv Competition in Israel, opening doors to an international career. Seeking new challenges and further refinement of his skills, he pursued studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) under Prof. Andreas Klein. His time in Germany allowed him to expand his technical and artistic capabilities while establishing connections with musicians from around the world.
As an orchestral musician, Wolfson has performed regularly with renowned ensembles, including the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, led by Daniel Barenboim, Staatsoper Berlin, and the Zurich Opera. Collaborating with these institutions has given him the opportunity to participate in prestigious projects and perform on some of the world's most distinguished stages.
Currently, he holds the position of bass trombonist with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, one of Europe’s most highly regarded symphony orchestras, conducted by Iván Fischer. In addition to his work with the orchestra, he is an active freelancer, collaborating with leading ensembles worldwide. His versatility, outstanding technique, and deep musicality make him one of the most esteemed bass trombonists of his generation.
