Angus grew up in Helensburgh, Scotland and throughout this time he played with the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland and Great Britain. He was also a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Bone-afide trombone quartet. Angus studied for his undergraduate degree at the Royal Academy of Music, with Bob Hughes and Keith McNicoll, and he completed an MMus course with James Buckle and Paul Milner at the Royal College of Music. He is now studying for another masters, at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Stefan Schulz.

From 2022-2024 he was academist with Berlin Staatsoper where he played in many operas and symphonic works, under conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Christian Thielemann and Ivan Fischer. Angus is currently Wechsel Posaune at the Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig . He also enjoys playing with many different musicians and has worked with orchestras such as Berlin Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic, Dresden Staatskapelle, bayerisches Staatskapelle, Berlin Staatskapelle, and HR Frankfurt.

During his time in London, Angus won various awards in solo and chamber music. As a soloist his achievements include being a finalist in the Solo Hungarian International Trombone Competition, winner of the Dublin Brass Week Concerto Competition, winner of the John Solomon RAM Brass Prize and 1st prize in the Swisstbone Bass Trombone Student Competition.
