Florian Hatzelmann (born 1988) began his musical journey in his hometown music association and attracted attention as a soloist at the age of 14. After graduating from the Berufsfachschule für Musik in the class of Peter Seitz, he studied from 2011 to 2016 at the Zurich University of the Arts under Prof. Anne Jelle Visser.
From 2013 to 2014, he was a tubist with the orchestra of the prestigious international Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. In 2013, he completed an internship with the Bern Symphony Orchestra and was also accepted into the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. He regularly performs as a substitute musician with renowned orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, and the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his orchestral work, he is involved in various projects and ensembles, including Alpenblech and Fättes Blech.
In 2016, he became principal tubist of the Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester Braunschweig, and in 2018 he took up the same position at the Zurich Opera House.
