Gergely Lukács embarked on his musical journey at the tender age of 6 in Zalaszentgrót, guided by the skilled hands of Attila Johann. Continuing his studies at the prestigious Béla Bartók Music Conservatory in Budapest, he received guidance and tutelage from the esteemed Gábor Adamik. Under the mentorship of László Szabó and Roland Szentpáli, Lukács pursued his passion for the tuba and obtained his MA degree from the Franz Liszt Music Academy.

Throughout his career, Lukács has captivated audiences as a solo performer alongside symphonic orchestras across the globe. His exceptional talent has garnered numerous accolades, such as winning first prize at the National Brass Competition in 2012 and the International Brass Contest in Brno, Czech Republic the following year. He also triumphed in the tuba contest organized by the International Tuba and Euphonium Association in Bloomington, United States. Lukács emerged victorious at the inaugural Bucharest Brass Competition and achieved success at the International Brass Competition of the New Zealand Brass Festival in 2021. Furthermore, he has achieved first place in tuba competitions held in Varazdin, Croatia, and Brno, Czech Republic. He has been recognized as a prize winner in other tuba competitions, including those in Jeju, South Korea; Markneukirchen, Germany; Tours, France; and Iowa City, United States.

 

In 2015, Lukács was honored with a scholarship from the Bank of China. His remarkable talent was showcased on the television show "Virtuosos" in 2017, where he reached the final and received the Batthyány medal from his hometown of Zalaszentgrót. Lukács was also bestowed with the prestigious Prima Primissima junior grade award by the Hungarian state. In 2018, he became a recipient of the distinguished Annie Fischer scholarship. He has had the privilege of attending masterclasses led by esteemed artists such as Roland Szentpáli, Oystein Baadsvik, Sergio Carolino, and Daniel Perantoni.

As a valued member of the Heavy Brass Guys Tuba Quartet, he showcases his exceptional talent in Hungary's only tuba quartet. In 2019, Lukács released his highly- acclaimed debut solo album, titled "Fifty Shades of Tuba." Since 2021, he has held the position of principal tuba player at the Hungarian State Opera. Furthermore, Lukács shares his expertise as a lecturer in the tuba class at the Béla Bartók Music High School in Budapest.
