Born in the Żywiec region, he continued his education after primary school at the State Secondary School of Music in Bielsko-Biała, where he studied trombone. In 1973, after completing his compulsory military service in the Representative Orchestra of the Warsaw Garrison, he began his studies at the State Higher School of Music in Kraków. The following year, he continued his education at the State Higher School of Music in Katowice, studying trombone under Professor Roman Siwek, and graduated with distinction.
During his studies, he achieved several notable successes in national and international competitions. In 1976, after winning a competitive audition, he joined the Great Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio and Television in Katowice (now the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra – NOSPR). Four years later, he was appointed Professor of Trombone and Tuba at the Academy of Music in Katowice.
Many of his former students now perform with Poland’s leading symphony and opera orchestras, including the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), and the Silesian Philharmonic. Others have pursued successful careers in music education at every level, from primary music schools to higher education institutions.
After reaching retirement age, he settled permanently in his hometown of Ślemień.
