Øystein Baadsvik has been recognized by listeners of Classic FM as one of the ten greatest wind instrumentalists in history. He was the first to deliver a TED Talk dedicated to the tuba, and his recordings on YouTube have surpassed six million views, making him one of the most popular classical musicians online. His versatile career as a soloist and recording artist has taken him to every continent. He regularly gives masterclasses and lectures at leading music institutions around the world.

He has performed with orchestras such as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Taipei National Symphony Orchestra, and the Singapore Philharmonic. He has appeared in the world’s most prestigious concert halls, and in 2006 he made his debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall.

As an active recording artist, he consistently receives outstanding reviews. The American Record Guide wrote of his album Tuba Works: “This spectacular recording establishes Baadsvik as one of the finest tubists in the world.” Film composer John Williams said of his interpretation of the Tuba Concerto: “His performance of my concerto exceeds anything a composer could hope for.”
