Tomasz Zabor
23 June 2023

He is a trombonist and designer and constructor of brass wind instruments. He began learning to play the trombone at the State Music School of the Second Degree in Częstochowa, in the class of Łukasz Gwoźdź.

His academic music education was entirely completed abroad. He obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Music in Graz (Austria) in the class of Carsten Svanberg, a distinguished Danish soloist and renowned educator. He continued his master’s studies at the Basel Music Academy (Switzerland) under the supervision of Edgar Manyak, soloist of the Berlin RSB Orchestra and member of the Kühnl Trombone Quartet. Currently, Tomasz Zabor is a trombonist with the Zakhar Bron Festival Orchestra in Interlaken (Switzerland).

After three years of gaining craftsmanship experience at a leading German company and completing the Bavarian School of Instrument Construction, he founded his own company specializing in customizing trombones and building custom instruments. Despite being relatively new on the German market, he quickly gained trust and loyalty not only from musicians of Berlin’s orchestras but also from artists of many other leading musical centers across Europe.

Under the ZaborBrass brand, in 2023 he constructed his first original tenor trombone, which became the main instrument for Polish trombonist Jarek Meissner, who won an award at the Prague Spring competition in the same year, performing a program on this very instrument.
