Víctor Álvarez Alegría currently serves as the Principal Trombone of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. A world-class performer and educator, he is also a renowned Online Brass Coach, mentoring over 90 students worldwide. His career seamlessly blends elite orchestral performance with a global presence as a soloist and pedagogue, traveling the world to perform and lead masterclasses.
 

A defining milestone in his career was his two-year tenure as an Academic at the prestigious Karajan Academy, where he performed in over 20 projects with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. This elite experience is complemented by his regular guest appearances with world-renowned ensembles, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
 

Born in Santander (Spain), Víctor began his studies with Francisco Nájera at the Jesús de Monasterio Conservatory, where he was awarded the Extraordinary Prize. His academic background is of the highest caliber:
 

• Bachelor’s Degree: Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Grade: 9.5/10) under Jörgen van Rijen, Remko de Jager, and Pierre Volders.

• Master’s Degree: Universität der Künste (UdK) Berlin, studying with Maestro Stefan Schulz, Joao Martinho, and Guntram Halder.
 

A multi-award winner, his accolades include First Prize at the Italian Brass Week (2019) and Third Prize at the Michel Becquet Competition (2023). As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as JOSCAN, Orchestra di Camerata Fiorentina, and the European Symphony Orchestra.
 

Víctor has been a member of elite youth ensembles, including the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and the Lucerne Festival Academy. He has participated in prestigious international festivals such as the Pacific Music Festival (Japan), Taipei Music Festival (Taiwan), and the Youth Music Culture Greater Bay Area project (China). Having refined his craft with masters like Ian Bousfield and Peter Moore, Víctor stands as one of the most prominent trombonists of his generation.
