Zoltán Kiss was born in Budapest (Hungary) in 1980. Largely self-taught, he developed his technique by drawing inspiration from leading trumpeters. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, winning several national competitions both as a soloist and with chamber ensembles.
In 2005, Zoltán was invited to audition for the Austrian brass septet Mnozil Brass, with whom he now tours worldwide, performing over 100 concerts each year.
To date, he has released three albums: Slideshow (2010), Rebelión (2011), and Non-Stop (2014).
In 2014, Zoltán was appointed International Trombone Tutor at The Philip Jones Centre for Brass at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK.
Zoltán performs exclusively on his signature Kissbone and KissboneX trombones, designed in collaboration with the Austrian manufacturer Schagerl. His custom “Zoltán Kiss” mouthpiece is produced by Latsch Custom Brass in Germany.
Whenever possible, he is also active as a guest soloist, educator, and jury member at competitions.
